I have contacted Avant Advocaten at the end of last year, when I objected against a decision of DUO regarding my student financing. I have been dismissed for a long time by DUO and I simply could not push my case through alone. They changed my performance grant to a debt that I was asked to pay back, since I could not provide enough proof of working hours for them. It turned out that all EU students should receive equal treatment and this is something that DUO is hiding from international students. In the Netherlands, those who have a low income are entitled to state financed legal aid by another organization, which applies to the majority of students including me as well. This means that my case was free of charge and they are really compelled to help EU students in these cases. However, optionally you can support the organization that finances your case, but is not mandatory at all. Without the help of Avant Advocaten and Gor Gabrielan, I simply would not be able to push this through alone and I would be paying back my debt, while I was eligible for it. Their fast and accurate work, prompt answers and informative website helped me to calm down and ensured that my case is in the right hands. I can only recommend this firm and Gor Gabrielan, who was responsible for me throughout this case.I will be forever grateful for them!

Boris Stalpers heeft mij vanaf het begin heel duidelijk meegenomen in het proces, waardoor ik als leek beter begrijp hoe zo'n procedure verloopt. Wij hebben een erg positieve ervaring gehad met Avant Advocatenkantoor. Op advies van het huurteam contact met Avant opgenomen. Mijn huisgenoot is heel netjes te woord gestaan, en kreeg nog mee dat ik ook even moest bellen zodat hij mij ook gerust kon stellen.Over een span van 3 maanden ongeveer 6 keer gebeld, maar iedere keer was er niemand beschikbaar. Of Gor Gabrelian was wel op kantoor, maar in een meeting. Iedere keer een terugbelverzoek achtergelaten, waar een belofte bij kwam dat ik 'over twee uur' teruggebeld zou worden, maar nooit meer iets gehoord.Misschien dat ze goed zijn in hun werk als je ze te pakken kan krijgen, maar dit was vooral héél erg teleurstellend.

As a student working in the Netherlands, I was eligible to the student finance (including the student travel product). However, DUO refused to give it to me. Geen enkele negatieve ervaringen? Volgens mij klopt er iets niet. Ik zal toch niet de enige geweest zijn die niet geholpen kon worden, omdat ik niet in aanmerking kom voor een toevoeging?Ik kreeg wel tips hoe ik onderuit kon komen om alsnog aan een toevoeging te komen. Voor mij was dit de drempel.Per advocaat mogen ze schijnbaar een x aantal toegevoegde zaken per jaar aannemen en als je daar bent dan schuiven ze het door naar een van hun minder ervaren collega’s binnen hun onderneming. Want dan kan je toch een hoop binnen harken, wat toevoeging betreft!!!Juist ja, dat noem je ondernemen!

Na de uitspraak van de huurcommissie dat wij teveel huur hebben betaald, en onze huurbaas het aan ons verschuldigde bedrag niet wilde terugbetalen, heeft het huurteam Rotterdam ons aangeraden om Gor Gabrelian van Avant Advocaten in de arm te nemen.Dit hebben wij toen gedaan en dat was een zeer goed besluit. Hij heeft ons super begeleid door alle stappen van het proces en we wisten wat de mogelijke uitkomsten bij elke stap in het proces waren. Thanks to Avant Advocaten, I was able to receive 8000€+ of student finance. Starting with their complete article (search for "avant advocaten duo") I learned I was actually entitled to student finance. Then, when the Dutch government tried to stop me from receiving it with little warning, I asked Avant for help and months later I got a compensation of 1440€ (which I wasn't even expecting at all). And all of this is *free* because what the Dutch government is doing is illegal, so you win automatically.

I had a case against Dutch government and DUO. They gave me student finance, but in a couple of weeks, they wanted it back. Without giving any reason. It, of course, made no sense. I searched on Google and found Avant Advocaten. Lawyers there, specifically Gor, have been helping me ever since (it has been 7 months). They knew exactly what they needed to do. They knew the corresponding Dutch and also EU laws. As an EU-student from Bulgaria, I didn't know I was entitled to such rights in the Dutch education system. When DUO stopped providing me with the student grant and loan since they did not consider my full-time internship a job, I received reliable and highly professional help from Avant Advocaten in filing an objection. This situation is particularly difficult for students because 1) internships are possible only with an active enrolment, 2) they require full-time work, and 3) they pay €300-500 monthly.
